Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to support therapists in delivering movement and function interventions within the Rehabilitation and Supportive Care Services portfolio. You will work with patients, families and the care team to promote movement and daily living activities.

The role involves maintaining equipment, assisting with supplies, and contributing to a safe, collaborative care environment across the portfolio as needed.

Qualifications

• Graduation from a recognized Community College Rehabilitation Assistant program or completion of recognized combined OTA/PTA college programs.
• Current BCLS certification is required.
• Ability to communicate well with patients, families and staff.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with the team.
• Organizational ability to complete assigned work and manage changing caseloads.
• Knowledge of proper body mechanics.
• Demonstrate basic computer skills.
• Competencies in other languages are an asset; French preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe and proficient interventions as assigned by therapists.
• Check and clean equipment and maintain treatment/storage areas.
• May order necessary supplies for the unit.
• Provide education and support to patients and families as part of care.
