Job summary

Fraser Health Authority is seeking a Rehabilitation Assistant to support residents under the supervision of a Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist or Registered Nurse in British Columbia. You will help with rehabilitative activities and contribute to a compassionate care team.

The role involves guiding residents through mobility, transfers and daily living activities, with emphasis on safety and documentation.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Rehabilitation Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assists assigned residents with mobility and strengthening exercises, walking programs and activities of daily living as directed.
• Demonstrates use of prescribed treatment/adaptive devices (braces, wheelchairs, walkers) and eating utensils as directed.
• Assists residents in dressing and toilet needs, and with transfers and positioning.
• Transports residents to and from treatment area using wheelchairs or stretchers.
• Reports and charts observations of residents' behaviour and progress to Therapist/Nurse and communicates concerns.
• Sets up and organizes furnishings and equipment for related activities; maintains equipment and reports malfunctions.
• Maintains inventory of equipment, devices and materials.
