Job summary

Alberta Energy Regulator seeks a Regulatory Design Specialist to join our Regulatory Design & Delivery team in Calgary or Edmonton. You will conduct analyses, develop regulatory instruments, and support stakeholder engagement to drive efficient, compliant project outcomes.

We value independent work, multi-project management, and strong communication. A relevant degree and 5–7 years of experience are preferred; this is a full-time, limited-term role with a competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in policy studies, economics, law, sciences, engineering, or business.
• 5-7 years of experience in regulatory analysis, regulatory operations, policy development, or a related field.
• Knowledge of Alberta energy rules and regulations and regulatory instruments is required.
• Strong written and verbal communication with demonstrated project management ability.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regulatory analyses for Regulatory Design & Delivery (RDD) projects.
• Identify and resolve issues; provide guidance to AER staff.
• Design regulatory instruments with technical experts.
• Draft executive decision documents and align with stakeholders.
• Support Senior RDSs on higher complexity projects.
