Job summary

Brightshores Health System Owen Sound is seeking a Registered Technologist to join our Medical Imaging team on a part-time, temporary basis. You will perform radiographic and CT examinations, ECGs and Holter monitor applications while ensuring high-quality images and patient safety.

Responsibilities include patient instruction, equipment monitoring, and maintaining competency per Ontario standards. A strong teamwork approach and commitment to a safe workplace are expected across shifts and sites.

Qualifications

• Graduate with a 3-year college program or bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Registered or eligible with Ontario College for Radiography and CAMRT.
• Experience with CT imaging and high-quality radiography equipment.
• Familiar with PACS, digital/CR radiography, and OR procedures.
• Able to communicate with patients and staff and uphold privacy.
• Demonstrates initiative, problem solving, accountability, and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Perform radiographic examinations and CT scans at designated sites.
• Administer ECGs and Holter monitor applications as required.
• Monitor and adjust imaging equipment for quality and safety.
• Instruct patients before and during examinations; review history.
• Maintain competency per Ontario Standards of Practice and act safely.

POSITION TITLE: REGISTERED TECHNOLOGIST

DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL IMAGING

LOCATION: OWEN SOUND

UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU - HPD

STATUS: PART-TIME, TEMPORARY (APPROX. END DATE AUGUST 2026)

POSITION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager of Medical Imaging, the Medical Radiation Technologist’s (MRT) key responsibilities include: performing radiographic examinations, CT examinations (at designated sites), electrocardiograms and Holter Monitor application; monitoring/adjusting equipment to ensure high quality radiographs and ensure a safe working environment on all shifts. The MRT provides instruction to patients before and during examinations and assesses relevance of the examination based on patient clinical history. It is the responsibility of the incumbent to maintain competency in the radiology and CT examinations required and performed within the department. Duties are conducted in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Health Professionals Act.

Qualifications / Skills / Abilities:

Required

• 3 year community college or undergraduate degree
• Current registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario in Radiography or eligible for registration
• Current registration with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologist (or eligible for registration)
• Working knowledge of the Standards of Practice of the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario and the Health Professionals Act
• Current CT experience
• Current technical experience with Digital Radiography and Computed Radiography equipment used to acquire high quality image including Operating Room Experience where required
• Current PACS experience
• IV Certification course
• Advanced Computer Skills
• Proven interpersonal skills to successfully communicate with patients and staff
• Demonstrated ability in the following competencies: initiative/self-management, problem solving and accountability
