Job summary

The Foot Care RPN, working within the Sioux Lookout Diabetes Program (SLDP) and partner organizations, assesses, plans, and delivers nursing interventions to clients in the community.

Responsibilities include advanced foot care for diabetes, 1,200 visits per year, and travel to remote northern communities; a 24‑month full‑time commitment is expected, with an emphasis on collaboration and quality patient care.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario, as a licensed Registered Practical Nurse required.
• Current Basic CPR certificate required.
• Advanced foot care certification preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing interventions as outlined by the College of Nurses RPN Scope of Practice.
• Work across shifts and sites as assigned.
• Prioritize and organize workload demands.
• Demonstrate a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Be flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
• Travel to remote northern communities 1–2 weeks per month.
• Maintain a 1–2 year commitment to the position.
• Provide 1,200 foot care visits per year.

  • A Northern Top-Up grant of $10,000, paid in $5,000 instalments after four (4) and eight (8) months of employment with an eligible employer.
  • A Northern Relocation Grant of $10,000, paid in $5,000 instalments upon confirmation that an eligible nurse has started employment and after four (4) months employment with an eligible employer.

Job Summary

The Foot Care RPN, following the scope of practice as set out by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is responsible for assessing, planning, and providing nursing interventions to clients of the Sioux Lookout Diabetes Program (SLDP) and partner organizations.

Qualifications

• Current certificate of competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario, as a licensed Registered Practical Nurse required.
• Current Basic CPR certificate required.
• Advanced foot care certification preferred but not required.
• Minimum six (6) months experience preferred.
• Preference will be given to those with a minimum 1-year successful experience in Diabetes Education.
• Good communication, interaction with staff, patients, and residents.
• Must be physically capable of performing duties of position.

• Must be available to work all shifts and sites as assigned
• Ability to prioritize and organize workload demands

• Flexible and adaptable to rapidly changing situations
• Regular and sustained attendance is essential for this position
• Travel to remote northern communities required (1-2 weeks per month)
• Due to the extensive training, there is a 1-2-year minimum commitment to the position.
• Primarily responsible for providing advanced foot care to patients with diabetes.
• Provide 1,200-foot care visits per year

Salary

Salary: $35.49-38.16. In accordance with CUPE Collective Agreement
