Job summary

Jarlette Health Services in Southampton, Ontario, is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to provide highly skilled nursing care on-site at Southampton Care Centre. You will assess and coordinate resident care, document outcomes, and participate in CQI and policy activities.

The role requires current CNO registration, strong leadership and communication skills, and timely collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
  • Experience in a Long-Term Care (Gerontology) setting is an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to care plan and coordinate care as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in current care technology and documentation.
  • Active interest in ongoing education, training, and professional development.
  • Must meet MOH and MLTC requirements and be computer literate.

Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing services and optimum care to residents under Director of Care.
  • Clinical practice, resident assessments, interventions, and documentation.
  • Unit management, supervision of team members, and resource use.
  • Quality, policy adherence, risk management, and CQI activities.
  • Collaboration with internal and external teams and OHSA compliance.

Southampton Care Centre is a fully accredited long term care home in Southampton, Ontario and serves 88 residents.Southampton is a lakeside community on Lake Huron, known for its white sand beaches, historic downtown, and cultural arts scene. Situated at the mouth of the Saugeen River and approximately 49 km south of Owen Sound, it provides a peaceful atmosphere for residents and visitors alike, with diverse dining options, local shops, and activities suited for beach-goers and art enthusiasts.

Under the direction of the Director of Care, the Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for providing and ensuring the provision of optimum care to promote the well‑being of each individual resident. The Registered Nurse ensures and provides the delivery of nursing services to meet the assessed needs of the residents.

The key areas of responsibility include: Clinical Practice & Resident Care (assessment, intervention, care coordination, documentation, and wellness), Unit Management & Accountability (operations, team member supervision, resource use), Collaboration & Communication (internal and external coordination, orientation), Quality, Policy, and Education (CQI, risk management, professional development), Team Member Management (evaluation, discipline), Organizational Values & Customer Service, and Health and Safety (safe practices, hazard reporting, OHSA compliance).

We are looking for the following qualifications and traits:
  • Candidates must possess a current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario. O. Reg. 246/22, s. 51
  • Experience in a Long-Term Care (Gerontology) setting is an asset
  • Performs care planning and coordination of care in a diverse multidisciplinary care team
  • A demonstrated use of current care technology.
  • Shall exhibit strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must demonstrate an active interest in ongoing education, training, and professional
  • development
  • Must ensure all MOH and MLTC requirements are met.
  • Must be computer literate
