Job summary

Cogir Senior Living seeks a Registered Practical Nurse to provide planned, patient-centered nursing care for residents in retirement residences across Ontario. You will work within a multidisciplinary team, ensuring care plans are executed, updated and documented with clear communication to residents, families and staff.

The role emphasizes compassionate, person-centered care for seniors, collaboration with unregulated care providers, and adherence to provincial standards.

Qualifications

• Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse in the applicable province.
• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred.
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset.
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role.
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships.

Responsibilities

• RPNs are responsible for providing planned, patient-oriented, goal-directed nursing care in accordance with provincial standards of care.
• RPNs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary team who build trusted relationships with residents, families and teams with continuous ongoing and effective communication.
• RPNs implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the care plans and make changes as required.
• RPNs complete and ensure resident’s clinical care assessments, care plans and documentation are accurate, up to date and communicate changes as required.
• RPNs teach, delegate and direct unregulated care providers, providing them with coaching & mentorship.

• Experience working with seniors and with unregulated care providers preferred
• Education and experience in gerontology, rehabilitation, community/complex/long term care an asset
• Strong drive, respect and an understanding of the emotional and physical demands of the role
• Focus on teamwork and customer service with the ability to build trusted relationships
• Strong written and oral communication skills and critical thinking skills
• Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
• Computer proficiency and experience with Microsoft office applications
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification required
• Current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
