Position Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate, dedicated, and team-oriented **Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)** to work alongside our medical team of five family physicians. The ideal candidate will be committed to providing high-quality care to our patients in our combined family medicine and obstetrical care clinic in Wortley Village.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct patient care under the supervision of physicians and according to TVFHT Medical Directives.
- Counsel and educate patients regarding their medical questions and conditions.
- Measure patient heights, weights, and vital signs.
- Administer prescribed immunizations, injections, and treatments.
- Assist in performing routine lab tests and prepare specimens for analysis.
- Prepare for and assist physicians with procedures and sterilize equipment.
- Maintain accurate patient records and assist with documentation in electronic medical records (PS Suite EMR).
- Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and follow-up appointments.
- Participate in team meetings, provide feedback, and contribute to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Triage patient phone calls and address concerns with professionalism and empathy.
- Respond to physician requests and messages regarding patient follow-up.
- Adhere to all infection control, safety, and confidentiality protocols.
- Clean and organize exam rooms when necessary.
- Track, order, and maintain inventory of immunizations, equipment, and consumables.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited **Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) or Registered Nurse (RN)** program.
- Current registration and good standing with the **College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)**.
- Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C).
- Previous experience in a community clinic setting and/or with obstetrics is an asset, but not required.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong clinical skills and the ability to perform nursing assessments and procedures with accuracy and compassion.
- Competent at interpreting the provincial immunization schedule and drawing up and administering vaccines to patients of all ages
- Competent at other family medicine skills including suture/staple removal, wound care management, ear syringing, throat swabs, urine dips, pap tests, etc.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team setting with physicians, MOAs, and other healthcare staff.
- Adept in managing and resolving conflict in a mature manner.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a focus on patient education and emotional support.
- Proficient in electronic medical records (PS Suites EMR experience preferred) and basic office software applications.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to function autonomously and to adapt to changing situations and varying workload.
- Compassionate, patient-centered care approach with an understanding of the unique needs of obstetrical patients.
Demonstrate initiative to problem solve and anticipate the needs of patients and physicians.

Immunization & PPE Requirements
Before beginning employment at Old South Maternity Care, all new hires will be required to:
- Provide a Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox), Hepatitis B, Tetanus/ Diphtheria/Polio; Meningitis; and influenza (annual requirement).
- Provide documentation of Tuberculosis skin testing (two step);
- Provide proof of Health Canada-approved COVID-19 vaccination reflective of Ontario Health’s current definition of being fully vaccinated (two doses).
- Applicants must be willing to observe masking requirements during cold and flu season/ infection outbreaks/ and at-risk encounters.
