Registered Practical Nurse (4 Casual positions)

The Middlesex-London Health Unit has an exciting opportunity for Registered Practical Nurses to work on the Vaccine Preventable Disease team in the Environmental Health, Infectious Diseases & Clinical Services (EHIDCS) division at our Citi Plaza location, London Ontario.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in school, community and MLHU clinics to provide immunization services to clients;
  • Conduct screening and assessment of clients’ immunization needs according to medical directives, the Publicly Funded Immunization Schedule for Ontario and Health Unit policies and procedures;
  • Function within the mission, philosophy and policies of both the Health Unit and the division;
  • Undertake and participate in any training required as identified by the Manager;
  • Maintain client confidentiality and ensure that all information is collected in accordance with Middlesex-London Health Unit policy and privacy legislation;
  • Utilize evidence-informed practice;
  • Provide health education services to clients seeking immunizations;
  • Transport, lift and carry equipment and supplies up to 15 lbs;
  • Comply with workplace safety policies and procedures including PPE requirements;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Registered Practical Nurse diploma from an accredited nursing program (RPN);
  • Current certificate of competence from the Ontario College of Nurses;
  • Knowledge of vaccines and experience with vaccine administration is preferred;
  • Preference will be given to those who have completed the Immunization Competency Education Program or equivalent certification;
  • Proficiency working in Panorama immunization database is an asset;
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends;
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license and own transportation;
  • Excellent interpersonal, written/oral communication & presentation skills;
  • Proficient technical skills in documentation, Microsoft Office, and other database software;
  • Preference will be given to those with experience in implementing health equity strategies and working with multicultural populations;
  • Skills and knowledge to work with an increasingly diverse population, with knowledge of health inequities;
  • The ability to speak French and/or other languages would be considered an asset.

The hourly rate for this position ranges from $30.89 to $40.80 based on qualification and experience.
