Here’s what you’ll get to do…

  • Work in collaboration with the interdisciplinary health care team to assess and treat a wide variety of patients and their health emergencies.
  • Provide care to sick or injured patients when they enter the emergency department as part of the interdisciplinary team
  • Provide emergency care and collaborate with Doctors/Nurse Practitioners to determine which medications or treatment plan a patient may need using established medical directives
  • Assess patients, monitor vital signs, prepare and participate in patient treatment and procedures and complete other UCC nursing duties and responsibilities
  • Use your critical thinking and high level assessment skills to assess and treat patients
  • Liaise between patients, families, other members of health care team, and community partners
  • Participate in quality improvement processes, counsels and committees for the UCC
  • Contribute to the development and update of clinic references and policies and procedures
  • Maintain clinical competence and knowledge base through continued education and lifelong learning

Here’s what you need…

  • Bachelors and/or Diploma in Nursing
  • Must have Previous experience working in an emergency department and or Clinical Resource Team in the UCC
  • Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize your critical thinking, problem solving and teamwork abilities
  • Demonstrated team player who can also be self-directed and work independently
  • Positive attitude and ability to work in a team
  • Compassion and kindness
  • Previous Emergency Department or med/surg experience an asset
  • Continuous education courses considered an asset, such as: patient assessment course, cardiology courses, critical care and/or emergency courses, ACLS/PALS
  • Reliable and flexible individual to work as part of a diverse work team.
  • Positive work record essential
