Qualifications

  • Successful completion of the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

The Registered Practical Nurse is a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

As a Registered Practical Nurse, your typical day will include:

  1. Preparing and administering prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the Physician and in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Medication Administration Standards.
  2. Documenting concerns and complaints from clients, families, or team members, and seeking assistance from the Registered Nurse or designate as needed.
  3. Promoting clients’ self-care, emphasizing abilities, wellness, and preventative health education, treating the whole person.
  4. Completing assessments, RAPS, and care plans within required timeframes.
  5. Supporting unregulated care workers through guidance, training, and education.
  6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Must haves:

  • Current registration as a Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
  • Current Medication Administration Certificate.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare, or Rehabilitation as an RPN.
  • Successful completion of the prescribed Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Meeting provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements as applicable.

Bonus points for:

  • Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration.
