The Registered Practical Nurse Role

The Registered Practical Nurse is a vital role within our communities, impacting residents' lives and fostering human connection.

Key Responsibilities

1. Preparing and administering prescribed medications and treatments as directed by the Physician, following the College of Nurses of Ontario’s Medication Administration Standards.
2. Documenting concerns and complaints from clients, families, or team members, and seeking assistance when necessary.
3. Promoting clients’ self-care, wellness, and preventative health education, focusing on the whole person.
4. Completing assessments, RAPS, and care plans within required timeframes.
5. Supporting unregulated care workers through guidance, training, and education.
6. Performing other duties as assigned.

Must-Haves

• Current registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate.
• Current Medication Administration Certificate.
• Minimum of one year experience in Geriatric Nursing, Healthcare, or Rehabilitation.
• Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
• Compliance with provincial police check and tuberculosis screening requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-graduate studies in Geriatrics and Nursing Administration are an asset.
