Job summary

SPENCER HOUSE - ORILLIA, ON is hiring a Registered Practical Nurse for a permanent full-time float position. The role reports to the Director of Care and offers a competitive rate ($29.53-$31.05/hour) per the collective agreement, with benefits and growth opportunities.

As part of Sienna Senior Living, you will provide compassionate nursing care, supervise staff, and participate in admissions and ongoing resident assessments, contributing to residents’ safety, comfort and dignity.

Qualifications

• Registered Practical Nurse in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Experience in geriatrics, rehabilitation or senior health is an asset.
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Criminal Record Check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care per policy, physician orders and resident plans.
• Ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care.
• Create a welcoming environment through teamwork and communication.
• Oversee resident care and communicate with residents and families.
• Supervise Personal Support Workers/Unregulated staff on the unit.
• Manage admissions, readmissions and status changes; ongoing assessment.

What you’ll be doing:

You will be a welcomed member of the Sienna Senior Living team and impact in the following ways:

• Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care, and within the scope of practice of an RPN/LPN.
• Utilizing sound nursing practice principles, ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care
• Creating a welcoming and supportive environment for the residents through teamwork and effective communication with staff
• Overseeing resident care, including regular communication with residents and their families, and providing guidance to staff
• Supervise the Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members assigned to the unit
• Admission, readmission, and change in status, and provide ongoing assessment to the residents

Who you are

• A Registered Practical Nurse in good standing the Ontario College of Nurses
• An asset is having experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and/or senior health industry
• You have good judgement, the ability to identify risk and can foster a positive work environment
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
