Job summary

Sienna Senior Living in Elmira is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to join Barnswallow Place Care Community. You will provide nursing care under policy and physician orders, while building relationships with residents and families.

You’ll lead a team of PSWs, oversee admissions and ongoing assessments, and collaborate with care teams to maintain high-quality daily living for residents.

Qualifications

• This position requires an RPN in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses.
• Eligibility to work in Canada or valid work permit is required.
• Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Record Check may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in accordance with policies, physician orders and resident plan of care.
• Ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care using sound nursing principles.
• Create a welcoming environment through teamwork and clear communication with staff.
• Oversee resident care, communicate with residents and families, and guide staff.
• Supervise Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members on the unit.
• Manage admissions, readmissions, status changes and ongoing assessments.

What you’ll be doing:

You will be a welcomed member of theSienna Senior Living team and impact in the following ways:

• Provide nursing care in accordance with established policy, physician’s orders, the resident plan of care, and within the scope of practice of an RPN/LPN.
• Utilizing sound nursing practice principles, ensure delivery of excellent nursing and personal care
• Creating a welcoming and supportive environment for the residents through teamwork and effective communication with staff
• Overseeing resident care, including regular communication with residents and their families, and providing guidance to staff
• Supervise the Personal Support Workers/Unregulated team members assigned to the unit
• Admission, readmission, and change in status, and provide ongoing assessment to the residents

Who you are

• A Registered Practical Nurse in good standing the Ontario College of Nurses
• An asset is having experience in Geriatrics, Rehabilitation and/or senior health industry
• You have good judgement, the ability to identify risk and can foster a positive work environment
• You must be legally eligible to work in Canada or have a valid work permit
