Job summary

Brightshores is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse for the Medical/Surgical department at Southampton. You will promote health, assess patient needs, and provide comprehensive care across emergency and standard shifts to support optimal patient function.

You will work with a multidisciplinary team, participate in staff meetings, and uphold Brightshores values while ensuring patient safety and quality of care.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility.
• Ability to learn basic arrhythmia interpretation.
• Willingness to work in Emergency as required.
• Current certification in or willingness to obtain BCLS.

Job description

DEPARTMENT: MEDICAL/SURGICAL POSITION LOCATION: SOUTHAMPTON UNION AFFILIATION: OPSEU – SERVICE STATUS: FULL-TIMEREASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT WAGE RATE: $37.071 - $38.157

Reporting to the site Manager, the Registered Practical Nurse is responsible for the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care of, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventative, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means to patients in order to attain or maintain optimal function.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

• Current Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario or eligibility
• Ability and willingness to learn basic arrhythmia interpretation
• Willingness and ability to work in Emergency as required
• Current certification in or willingness to obtain:
  • BCLS
• Leadership, problem solving, decision-making, critical thinking and interpersonal skills
• Assessment and interviewing skills
• Ability and willingness to escort patients via ambulance services when required
• Ability and willingness to work in a team environment and contribute to continuous quality improvement
• Ability and willingness to work all shifts
• Commitment to continuous professional development and continuing education
• Basic computer knowledge
