Job summary

Brant Community Healthcare System is seeking a registered nurse to join the Integrated Stroke Unit and provide comprehensive nursing care across BCHS sites in Brantford and Paris. You will work with an inter-professional team to support patients through acute care, inpatient stroke, and rehabilitation.

The role requires current CNO registration, BCLS certification, and 1+ year neuroscience or stroke care experience. BCHS offers education funding, mentorship, and career growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college nursing program.
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Integrated Stroke Unit, the successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care throughout the BCHS and must meet the following criteria.

Mandatory Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited college nursing program
• Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Experience in Neuroscience, Inpatient Stroke and Rehabilitation (minimum 1 year)

Preferred Competencies

• Completion of Hemispheres Stroke Competency, Aphasia Training, CNS, STAND assessments
• Understanding of rehabilitation nursing philosophy of care and Self-Management principles
• Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian Best Practice Recommendations for Stroke Care
• Demonstrated interest in stroke and understanding of BCHS as a District Stroke Centre
• Experience caring for persons with Aphasia and use of Supportive Conversation techniques
• Reliable individual with excellent attendance record and able to work all shifts
