Job summary

Brant Community Healthcare System in Brantford, Ontario, is seeking an OR nurse to provide comprehensive perioperative care in the operating room program. Reporting to the Clinical Manager, you will participate in scrubbing and circulating roles for major orthopedic, urology, gynecology and general surgeries.

The successful candidate will hold RN status, be in good standing with CNO, have BCLS and perioperative certification; ACLS preferred. Experience in OR is valued.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Completion of Perioperative Nursing Certification.
  • Current operating room experience preferred.
  • Able to perform IV starts and venipuncture.
  • ACLS certification preferred.
  • CPN(c) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care in the operating room program.
  • Demonstrate ability to function as scrub or circulating nurse for orthopedic, urology, gynecology and general surgeries.
  • Collaborate with interprofessional team to ensure patient safety and comfort.
  • Support patient teaching and discharge planning.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Operating Room, PACU and Day Surgery, the successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care in the operating room program and must meet the following criteria:

Mandatory Qualifications
  • Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
  • Completion of Perioperative Nursing Certification
  • Current operating room experience preferred
  • Able to perform I.V. starts and venipuncture
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred)
  • CPN(c) (preferred)
