Job summary

CMHA Waterloo Wellington is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse (FACT) for a full-time contract to fill an existing vacancy. The position is based in Kitchener at 55 King St. W.

and offers 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am–5pm with flexibility to meet service needs, through January 28, 2028. You will provide psychiatric nursing care, mental health assessments, and interventions for adults within a multidisciplinary FACT team; injections experience is required.

Qualifications

• Degree/Diploma from an approved RPN program
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Eligibility to practice as RPN in Ontario (OPNO)
• 3–5 years in community-based mental health services
• Knowledge of psychiatric nursing and medications
• Well-developed assessment and intervention skills
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
• Able to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary setting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Valid driver’s license and access to vehicle for travel

We are recruiting for a REGISTERED PRACTICAL NURSE (FACT)

• This is a contract full-time position to fill an existing vacancy until January 28, 2028 (35 hours per week Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm with flexibility to meet service needs) based at 55 King St. W. Kitchener.

Within the scope of the RPN practice, this position will provide psychiatric nursing care, mental health assessment, consultation, and intervention services for adults. This position will manage a caseload and will also provide education regarding mental health, overall physical health and wellness. Comfort and experience providing injections is a requitement of this role. This position will report to the Manager, Adult Intensive Services This position will be a member of a team that will have a flexible approach to providing intensive, recovery-oriented support and treatment that puts people first.

Flexible Assertive Community Treatment (FACT) is a recovery-oriented, evidence-based best practice. A FACT team is comprised of amultidisciplinary team of clinicians monitoring up to 200 clients with severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) in a specific catchment area - that is, both those for whom traditionalassertive community treatment (ACT) is indicated and a larger majority of clients on the team who need less intensive treatment and support. To combine care for these two groups, the FACT team employs a flexible switching system where the intensity of services can be ramped up or ramped down as needed depending on individual client need. This combination of flexibility and continuity provides better opportunities for recovery and rehabilitation and ties in well with the natural course of SPMI with its recurring episodes and relapses.

Qualifications:

• Degree/Diploma from an approved Registered Practical Nursing (RPN) Program
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and eligibility to practice as a Registered Practical Nurse in Ontario
• 3 to 5 years of related experience in providing community-based mental health services
• Thorough knowledge of psychiatric nursing and medications
• Well-developed assessment and intervention skills
• Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and multi-disciplinary setting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, Outlook and various database software
• A valid driver’s license, vehicle and insurance, as travel is required

CLASSIFICATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 5 (OPSEU) - $33.07 to $40.30 per hour
