Job summary

Four Counties Health Services in Newbury, Ontario, is seeking a part-time Registered Practical Nurse for the Active Care Nursing Unit. The role is a job-share position, covering a half of a full-time role while supporting the partner’s absences.

The successful candidate will work across nights, weekends, and holidays, with shifts in Ambulatory Care as needed. Jan 2027 start date; vaccination/testing requirements apply.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required.
• Minimum 2 years medical nursing experience essential.
• Current BLS-HCP required; Medication Administration Course required.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care within the Active Care Nursing Unit of Four Counties Health Services.
• Work as a part of a job-share, covering for vacation and short-term absences.
• Be available for all shifts (7.5 and 11.25 hours), including nights, weekends and holidays; may also schedule 4–7.5 hour Ambulatory Care shifts.
• Document care accurately reflecting patient status and care provided.

Four Counties Health Services (FCHS) is a primary care facility people providing emergency care, diagnostic services, and rehabilitation. Serving approximately 23,000 residents, it is located in the village of Newbury at the intersection of Lambton, Kent, Middlesex and Elgin Counties. FCHS offers extensive outpatient care by provided by medical staff and visiting specialists, 24-hour access to a physician on-call for emergencies, continuing care and minor surgical services, an active and successful Adult Day Centre and supports numerous community programs such as Meals on Wheels, and VON’s Palliative Care Volunteer Program. With 19 visiting specialists, FCHS provides emergency services close to home, following and helping to navigate patients through the spectrum of health care options.

Description

The Middlesex Hospital Alliance is seeking a part-time job share Registered Practical Nurse to practice responsibilities within the Active Care Nursing Unit at their Four Counties Health Services site. Job Share Partners are responsible for working one-half of a full-time position and are required to cover their job share partner’s vacation and short-term absences. The successful candidate will be available for all shifts (7.5 and 11.25 hours), including nights, weekends, and statutory holidays. May also be scheduled for 4-7.5 hour shifts in Ambulatory Care. This position is available commencing January 2027.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Demonstrated commitment to medical nursing - Current medical nursing experience essential - min 2 yrs (equivalent to 1950 hrs./yr.)
• Current BLS-HCP required
• Demonstrated ability to work within full scope of practice
• Medication Administration Course required
• Experience Administering Medications
• IV insertion course and demonstrated experience with initiating and managing IVs
• Successful completion of Palliative Care course, an asset
• Demonstrated organizational and leadership skills
• Demonstrated ability to perform documentation reflective of patient care
• Advanced Computer Skills in a Windows environment
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Vaccination and Health Requirements

If successful, you must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and proof of 2 COVID-19 vaccinations. You will also be required to provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing within the previous 12 months.

Salary

$40.14 - $41.22 per hour
