Job summary

Middlesex Hospital Alliance is seeking a Casual Part-Time Registered Practical Nurse for Medical/Surgical Inpatient at the Strathroy site. The role covers all shifts and rotations, including weekends and holiday rotations, to support patient care on the unit.

Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required, with BLS-HCP, experience in medical–surgical nursing, and strong teamwork. The position may be eligible for CCPN. Community values guide our care delivery.

Qualifications

• Must provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps rubella and varicella (chicken pox) and documentation of two Covid 19 Vaccinations
• Documentation of TB skin testing within the previous 12 months
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Demonstrates skill, knowledge and ability to practice up to full scope in Ontario
• Previous (2) year Medical Surgical Nursing within the past 3 years preferred
• Current BLS-HCP required
• Experience in management of complex surgical wounds and PICC lines
• Demonstrated proficiency in IV initiation, assessment and documentation
• Familiarity with CNO documentation standards with experience in Electronic Health Record environment
• Knowledge of medical directives and delegated medical acts
• Commitment to ongoing professional development, evidence-based practice and self-directed learning
• Effective interpersonal, communication, critical thinking and leadership skills
• Ability to lead and collaborate as a team member in a patient-family-centered care setting
• Proficient computer skills in Windows and Cerner environments
• Commitment to continuous improvement and capability to foster change
• Excellence in attendance and customer service
• Understanding and use of good body mechanics
