THEROLE IN A NUTSHELL

As the Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPhT) atour online pharmacy, you play a pivotal role in customer service, patient care,and delivery of pharmacy services to our growing patient population. Yourresponsibilitiesinclude overseeing Pharmacy workflow dispensary duties aswell as owning key processes reporting and strategic initiatives. Your role iscrucial in maintaining a seamless workflow, meeting deadlines, and deliveringexceptional customer service. In all the duties you perform it is essential tocomply with all ethics and standards of practise of the College of Pharmacistsof BC for Registered Pharmacy Technicians and under the supervision of licensedPharmacists.

Key duties for this role would include:

  • Support Rx dispensing workflow and volume using full Registered Pharmacy Technician scope of practice.
  • Provide relief support/flex for all Registered Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacy Assistant roles, protecting operations against volume surges and absenteeism
  • Own key processes and reporting.
  • Own strategic initiatives in Digital Pharmacy aimed at growth, service implementation, and customer experience.

Customer Onboarding and Customer Experience:

  • Enter and create profiles for new customers and patients using a variety of technologies.
  • Transfer prescription profiles from previous customer pharmacies and enter them into the patient profile.
  • Explain to customers how to fully experience all the services, offers, and conveniences offered by our pharmacy.
  • Answer customer questions to the best of your ability and forward questions of a clinical nature to pharmacists.
  • Complete tracking and reporting of customer interactions as defined and appropriate.

Prescription verification:

  • Check both regularly filled, and strip packaged prescriptions to ensure accuracy and patient safety.
  • Check all prescriptions according to the standard operating procedures of the pharmacy as well as the standards of practice of the College of Pharmacists of BC.
  • Complete all documentation of verification activities and correctly record personal health information into PharmaNet.
  • Recommend enhancements to standard operating procedures to improve patient safety and accuracy throughout the prescription workflow process.
  • Participate in identifying, documenting, analyzing, and resolving medication incidents using Pharmapod. Communicate effectively with the team to analyze and resolve medication incidents.
  • Train new and existing team members on appropriate prescription filling/packaging to ensure patient safety and accuracy.
  • Shipping of prescriptions and other orders when called upon.

Prescription packaging and compounding:

  • Compound prescriptions under the supervision of a pharmacist and according to all standard operating procedures of the pharmacy and standards of practice as outlined by the College of Pharmacists of BC.
  • Ensure accuracy and patient safety of prescription packaging.
  • Provide guidance and training of team members to ensure accuracy and patient safety of prescription packaging processes.

Additional scope of practice responsibilities:

  • Receive and transcribe verbal prescriptions.

Additional Duties

  • Complete additional duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR

  • Completion of accredited training for a Registered Pharmacy Technician in BC.
  • Current and active College of Pharmacists of BC licensure as a Registered Pharmacy technician.
  • Demonstrate readiness for higher-level responsibilities through consistent performance and leadership actions.
  • Proven leadership and influence within a Pharmacy team.
  • Ability to take a customer-first approach to all customer interactions.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Registered Pharmacy Technician in a community or hospital setting preferred.
    Strong Kroll user skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Ability to focus and perform duties with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
