Job summary

BioScript Solutions in Calgary, AB, is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our #BestTeam. This full-time role focuses on dispensing support, inventory management, and collaboration with doctors to ensure coverage and patient care.

You will be part of a growing specialty pharmacy, with a commitment to learning, growth, and a supportive, collaborative culture. The position requires Alberta registration and strong Excel/Outlook/Word skills.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience is required.
  • Exemplary customer service skills when dealing with patients, physicians, and clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with dispensing activities, including technician-driven prescription checks, filling, and billing prescriptions; report adverse effects or events.
  • Assist with inventory activities, including receiving orders and counting inventory weekly.
  • Contact doctors and programs for prescriptions.
  • Communicate with program coordinators and insurers to secure coverage and resolve coverage issues.
  • Respond to communications from stakeholders in a timely manner, including emails and phones.
  • Communicate clearly with patients, healthcare providers, and payers.
  • Maintain exemplary patient-centered care in all interactions.
  • Ensure documentation is completed and submitted during shifts (reports, incidents, adverse events, quality complaints) as per SOPs.
  • Review new protocols and information to keep pharmacy practice up to date.
  • Ensure cold chain standards for biologics and specialty products are followed.

Your Mission:

  • Assist with dispensing activities, such as technician driven prescription checks, filling, and billing prescriptions, and reporting adverse effects or events.
  • Assist with inventory activities, such as receiving orders and counting inventory weekly.
  • Contacting doctors and programs for prescriptions.
  • Communicating with program coordinators and insurers to secure coverage and solve coverage issues.
  • Responding to communication from various stakeholders in a timely manner, including monitoring email accounts and answering phones.
  • Communicate with patients, healthcare providers, and payers clearly and effectively.
  • Exemplary patient centered care in all interactions with both internal and external
    stakeholders.
  • Ensures documentation is completed and submitted during the shift, including Post Infusion Feedback Reports, Incident Reports, Adverse Event reports, Product Quality Complaints, etc. as per SOPs and general policies.
  • Reviews new protocols/procedures/information and Communications regularly to ensure pharmacy practice is up to date.
  • Ensures related duties required to achieve the Cold Chain standards for all Biologics and specialty drug products stored and shipped by the pharmacy are consistently and rigorously followed.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
  • Required to be a Registered Pharmacy Technician in the province of Alberta.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Outlook (Email), and Word.
  • Exemplary customer service skills in dealing with patients, physicians, and our clients.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work autonomously with little supervision as part of a larger remote team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Effective organizational skills; attention to detail.
  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills; ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • English proficiency is required for this position to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Compensation: At BioScript, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package and is determined within a range. Our pay ranges are based on the local cost of labor benchmarks for each specific role, level, and geographic location.
