The Opportunity
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care to residents in accordance with required medical care and professional nursing practice. This role supervises activities and provides direction to Registered Practical Nurses and Personal Support Workers.
What Is In It For You
- Coordinates nursing and other services for the residents within the neighborhood and with other services within the residence.
- Leads shift reports with members of the healthcare team, ensuring all team members are informed of changes in residents’ status.
- Records significant changes in residents’ condition; ensures documentation in the residents’ chart adheres to AgeCare policies and procedures and Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice.
- Reviews and processes physician orders as per procedure, ensuring orders are implemented promptly. Communicates any difficulties in processing physician orders to the Director of Care/Assistant Director of Care.
What You Will Need
- A solid knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation, or long-term care nursing, including activation, nursing, and personnel administration.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations, the relevant sections of the Health Disciplines Act, Occupation Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada), Health Promotion and Protection Act, Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice, and other pertinent Federal, Provincial, and Municipal statutes influencing nursing operations.
- Registration and membership in good standing with the provincial registry.
