Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program and registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • 1 year of surgical experience and BCLS certification required.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Clinical Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for comprehensive nursing care in the surgical program and must meet the following criteria.

Educational Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

Mandatory Qualifications

  • 1 year of current (within 2 years) surgical experience.
  • Able to perform venipuncture and I.V. starts.

  • Well-developed negotiation and conflict resolution skills.

  • Self-directed individual with the ability to work both independently and within an inter professional team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professionalism in nursing.
  • Creative problem solver with a customer focus and patient friendly approach.
  • Ability to multitask and set priorities in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to establish work relationships with external partners.
  • Reliable individual with excellent attendance record.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with a team focus.

Preferred Competencies

  • Experience in patient teaching.
