Job summary

Interior Health is seeking a Public Health Registered Nurse for Kelowna Health Services. The role involves providing nursing services in communities, schools, homes and outreach locations within a population health framework.

Selected candidate will promote health and prevent illness, requiring BC licensure, a nursing degree, and recent public health experience. Travel is required; relief full-time until 2027-11-22 with daytime shifts and support from IH benefits.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved school of Nursing with current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Six (6) months recent, related experience in public health nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience.
  • Current valid BC Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Provides nursing services within Population Health/Health Promotion model.
  • Support health enhancing behaviours in diverse individuals, families, and groups.

About the Job

The Public Health Nurse (PHN), as an integral member of the Public Health Services team:

  • Provides nursing services within the framework of the Population Health/Health Promotion model
  • Translate knowledge from the health and social sciences to support health enhancing behaviours to diverse individuals, families, and population groups through universal and targeted interventions, programs and advocacy
  • Offers services in communities, schools, homes and outreach locations to individuals, families and communities

Inherent in the role are knowledge, skills and abilities specific to health promotion, epidemiology, community development, primary health care, social determinants of health and illness, and disease and injury prevention

This is a Relief Full Time opportunity until November 22, 2027, or the return of the incumbent.
Shifts of work will be scheduled days from 08:30 to 16:30 hours.
