Job summary

Interior Health Authority in Kelowna, BC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Oncology team at Kelowna General Hospital. If Nursing is your passion and you are reliable, flexible and motivated, you will thrive in this dynamic, fast-paced environment.

This Relief Part Time (0.50) position runs until February 13, 2028, or until the incumbent returns. Shifts are scheduled days, 06:45 to 17:55 hours.

Responsibilities

  • Sets priorities, provides clinical expertise and leadership for the plan of care, plans and implements health care treatments and interventions, and assigns and delegates tasks as appropriate to other members of the healthcare team.
  • Ensures the client/family unit actively participates in the development, implementation and ongoing modification of the plan of care, including the long and short-term goals.
  • Establishes a therapeutic relationship through the use of effective interpersonal and interviewing techniques, ensuring client choice and autonomy in decision-making and care planning.
  • Discusses and plans referral information with client/family unit and other health team members and in collaboration initiates referrals to appropriate health care/community agencies.
  • Collaborates with members of the interdisciplinary team and participates in rounds and/or patient care conferences to ensure effective, consistent, and comprehensive care planning and delivery

This is a Relief Part Time (0.50) opportunity until February 13, 2028, or the return of the incumbent.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days, rotating from 06:45 to 17:55 hours.

About this Location

Interior Health has embarked on an expansion plan to meet increasing demands, expand health services, and enhance patient care in the Okanagan. Construction of the six-storey, Centennial Patient Care Tower was completed in May 2012. It includes an expanded emergency department and ambulatory care department, five new operating rooms, a rooftop helipad, an expanded adult inpatient psychiatric unit, and extra space for more patient beds in the future. Kelowna General Hospital is the site of the brand new clinical academic campus for the University of BC Medical School.
