The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsiblefor the overall coordination and direction of nursing care utilizing thenursing process. The RN provides clinical leadership particularly in complex orunpredictable patient care settings. The RN has the knowledge, skill andjudgment needed to provide competent, evidenced based nursing practice. The RNis accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation ofthe plan of care to achieve patient/client outcomes. As a member of acollaborative care team works with other disciplines to co-ordinate care toachieve patient/family outcomes.
The RN supports the development ofstudents and colleagues through acting as a preceptor and providing ongoingmentorship.
The RN contributes to the efficient andeffective functioning of the service/unit, coordination of patient care,staffing allocation and/or the use of other resources as required.
In collaboration with the ClinicalManager, the RN is also responsible for delegation to and supervision ofnon-professional and support staff.
The RNaccepts responsibility for maintaining and continually demonstrating effectivegeneral nursing competencies and specialist competencies if working in aspecialty area. This is achieved through ongoing professional developmentincluding participation in education programs, continuous quality activities,and annual competency assessment, general for area specific. The RN practicesaccording to the Nursing Board's Code of Ethics, Standards of Nursing Practicefor Registered Nurses, Specialty standards as applicable, and the Policies andProcedures of the Hospital Board. The RN is responsible and accountable for his/her nursing practice and conduct as defined by the Nursing Board and forensuring that his/her registration is current and valid.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing Minimum 2-3 years post-graduate RN experience Current BCLS Other certifications depending on unit 2 and 3 year contracts available based on circumstances NO NCLEX REQUIRED NO CGFNS REQUIRED
