Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Short Stay Unit team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC. You will deliver nursing care independently and with an interdisciplinary team, participate in discharge planning, and educate patients and families on illness, health promotion, and wellness.

You will maintain documentation, respond to incidents, and collaborate with other providers while advancing your clinical competence and contributing to a patient-centered

Qualifications

• Currently registered with BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Experience in nursing care planning and patient education.
• Ability to collaborate with an interdisciplinary care team.
• Strong communication and clinical leadership skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Come work as a Registered Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) with our Short Stay Unit team at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, BC!

Using a best practices approach, provides nursing care to assigned patients/clients working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary care team. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates client care. Participates in discharge planning, functions as a client advocate and teaches clients and their families about illness/injury and overall health promotion and wellness. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. Documents care provided and responds to incidents in accordance with established policies and procedures. Consults, confers and collaborates with other health care providers. Maintains and advances own clinical competence. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
