Job summary

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC. You will deliver high-level nursing care to critically ill patients, work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team, and uphold client/family centred care in line with BCCNM standards.

The role emphasizes leadership, ongoing professional development, and collaboration in committees or approved research projects.

Qualifications

• Current RN registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
• Completion of a recognized critical care nursing program or two years' recent, related critical care experience.
• Broad knowledge of nursing theory and practice within a client/family centred model of care.
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to high-risk critically ill clients with life-support equipment or in post‑anaesthetic recovery.
• Consult, confer and collaborate with other health care providers.
• Demonstrate leadership and participate in designated hospital committees/approved research projects.
• Maintain clinical competence and participate in ongoing education.

Come work as a Registered Nurse with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) on the Intensive Care Unit at Vancouver General Hospital in Vancouver, BC!

Within the context of a client and family centred care model and in accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice for registered nurses, Code of Ethics and the established mission, vision, values, objectives and policies of Vancouver Coastal Health, provides nursing care to high risk critically ill clients with unpredictable outcomes attached to life-support equipment, and/or clients in post-anaesthetic recovery, both by working independently and as a member of a interdisciplinary team. Enhances quality of life from the perspective of the client/family. Consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care givers. Demonstrates expertise and leadership in nursing practice. Maintains and advances clinical competence. Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Education & Experience
