Job summary

Interior Health Authority in Kelowna, B.C. is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Intensive Care Unit team at Kelowna General Hospital. This permanent full-time role offers a dynamic, fast-paced environment with opportunities for growth and professional development.

The ideal candidate holds RN graduation, active BCCNM registration, and critical care preparation; BCLS within 3 years. Shift patterns are days and nights with extended 11.25-hour shifts.

Qualifications

• Graduation as a Registered Nurse from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Advanced preparation in a critical care clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Practices in a variety of clinical settings and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care
• Works in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
• Ensures the delivery of client-centered care by assisting individual clients and their families respond to changing health care needs
• Demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities

Education

RN degree with BCCNM registration

Critical care preparation or equivalent

Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years

This is a Permanent Full Time opportunity.

Shift of work will be days and nights, with shift times of 07:30 to 19:45 and 19:30 to 07:45.

About this location/unit:

Kelowna General Hospital’s (KGH) Multi-System ICU department consists of 19 patient care beds. RNs work 11.25 hour shifts and new nurse to patient ratios are 1:1.
