Interior Health is seeking an experienced Cardiac Services Nurse for the Cardiac ICU at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC. This casual role involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a specialized unit and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support patients and families.

Shift patterns include days and nights, with a flexible schedule and potential for varied hours. Must hold current registration with BCCNM and have critical care experience.

Qualifications

• Requires current practicing registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
• Advanced preparation in Critical Care; recent related clinical experience in CSICU/CICU or Cardiac area.
• BCLS within 3 years of hire.

• Practices in a variety of clinical settings and is responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of client care

This is a Casual opportunity. Casual Employees are not guaranteed hours of work and can range from 0-37.5 hours per week on an as-needed basis.

Shift are days and nights, with shift times of 07:30 to 19:45 and 19:30 to 07:45 hours.

About this location

Kelowna is home to the new Interior Heart and Surgical Centre (IHSC) at Kelowna General Hospital. The new Regional Cardiac Revascularization Program provides residents of the British Columbia Interior with the cardiac care they need, right here in the heart of the Okanagan Valley.

Our CICU

Our CICU is a 6 bed vented unit and we care for critically ill MI's, heart failure and pre-op cardiac surgery patients.

The Cardiac Surgery program opened in December 2012 with 6 CSICU beds and has expanded with the opening of the Interior Heart and Surgical Centre at Kelowna General Hospital. Our department provides an exceptional professional environment for critical care nursing and our nurses have excellent clinical and communication skills, a high commitment to professionalism and commitment as team players. Qualfications

• Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area (Critical Care), one year recent related clinical experience in the assigned practice environment (such as CSICU, CICU, Cardiac Diagnostic Procedures or Cardiac Cath Lab) on a unit similar in size and scope to the facility, and as required by the practice environment successful completion of the recognized KGH Cardiac Course (such as Cardiac Surgery Advanced Theory or CCU); or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
• BCLS within 3 years
