Job summary

Interior Health in Kamloops, BC is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse for the Royal Inland Hospital Emergency Department. The role involves providing nursing care to emergency patients both independently and with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced setting.

You will contribute to continuous improvement, maintain clinical competence, and participate on committees or research projects as assigned. This permanent part-time position rotates days and nights with shifts from 07:30 to 19:45

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with BCCNM.
  • Advanced preparation in Emergency nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • CPR within 3 years; BCLS within 3 years.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency nursing care to patients in a fast-paced ED, both independently and with a team.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to plan and deliver care.
  • Engage in continuous improvement and apply evidence-based practice.
  • Maintain and advance personal clinical competence.

About the Job

The Registered Nurse:

  • Provides nursing care to emergency patients, both by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team
  • Enhances quality of life for the patient and family; consults, confers, and collaborates with other health care providers
  • Demonstrates continuous improvement and evidence based practice in nursing practice
  • Maintains and advances own clinical competence
  • Participates on designated hospital committees/teams and approved research projects as assigned

This is a Permanent Part Time (0.67) opportunity.

Shifts of work will be scheduled days and nights rotating from 07:30 to 19:45, 19:30 to 07:45 hours.

Qualfications

Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)

Advanced preparation in the clinical specialty of the assigned area as required by the position:

  • Emergency – Advanced preparation in an ED clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) within 3 years
  • Combined Critical Care/Emergency – Advanced preparation in a critical care clinical specialty and 2 years related clinical experience aligned with unit specific competencies or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) within 3 years
