This role delivers direct patient care in a fast-paced emergency setting, collaborating with an interprofessional team and adhering to BCCNM standards and patient-centered care principles.

Shift rotations include days and nights (07:00–19:00 and 19:00–07:00) with rotating schedules.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse with current licensure (BCCNM) and experience in Emergency/High Acuity.
• Patient- and family-centered care model and standards.

Responsibilities

• Plans and provides direct patient care for Emergency & High Acuity patients.
• Collaborates with interprofessional team to assess, plan, and evaluate nursing care.

In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health, and under the general supervision of Manager or designate, this position practices in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as well as within a patient and family centered care model.

The Registered Nurse – Emergency/High Acuity, working collaboratively with the interprofessional team, plans and provides direct patient care by assessing, planning, providing and evaluating nursing care to clients with various complex health care issues, from non-urgent to life threatening to patients in the Emergency & High Acuity departments. The Registered Nurse demonstrates a specialized body of knowledge and bases practice on nursing science and related content from other sciences and humanities.
