Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse to enhance daily nursing practice while complying with governing bodies and internal policies. The RN will oversee resident care delivery, supervise LPNs and HCAs, and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes across Canada.

The role emphasizes adherence to Health Professions Act regulations, strong communication, and the ability to mentor staff in a dynamic long-term care setting.

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
• Previous experience in Long Term Care preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices, including wound management, infection control, least restraint, and zero lift.
• Effective human relations skills with coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Ability to work alone and with others while prioritizing tasks.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to handle stressful situations and work with diverse individuals.
• Strong organizing, planning, prioritizing and time management skills.
• Proven experience taking personal responsibility for seeking information.

Responsibilities

• Must work at all times within the regulation laid out in the Health Professions Act.
• Assess, plan, monitor, and coordinate the delivery of resident care.
• Oversee all ADL provisions of care, care plan development and family concerns.
• Plan, direct, and supervise the work of the LPN and Health Care Aide Staff.
• Collaborate with the health care team and champion customer satisfaction.
• Orientate, mentor and develop staff competency.
• Staff replacement in absence of the nursing clerk.
• Take charge of the facility in the absence of management.

• Oversees all ADL provisions of care, Interdisciplinary Team Conference, care plan development and addresses family concerns.

• Works collaboratively with the health care team and acts as a champion of customer satisfaction and customer service.
• Assists in orientating, mentoring and competency development of staff.
• Staff replacement in absence of the nursing clerk.
• Take charge of the facility in the absence of management.
