Job summary

Extendicare is seeking a Part-time Registered Nurse in Alberta to enhance daily nursing practice and quality of resident care in accordance with governing bodies and internal standards. The role includes assessing, planning, and coordinating care, and supervising LPN and Health Care Aide staff within a collaborative health team.

Candidates must be currently registered with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta and have strong communication, time management, and mentoring skills to support

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
• Previous experience in Long Term Care preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices including wound management, infection control, least restraint, and zero lift.
• Strong communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work with others or alone.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, monitor, and coordinate delivery of resident care within Health Professions Act regulations.
• Oversee all ADL provisions of care, care plan development, and address family concerns.
• Plan, direct, and supervise LPN and Health Care Aide staff.
• Collaborate with health care team and champion customer satisfaction and service.
• Orient and mentor staff and provide competency development.
• Staff replacement in absence of nursing clerk.
• Take charge of the facility in absence of management.

Job Description

The RN will enhance the effective management and quality of nursing practice daily in keeping with the standards and expectations set out by governing bodies and internal policies and standards of care.

Qualifications:

• Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
• Previous experience in Long Term Care preferred.
• Comprehensive knowledge of nursing and health care practices as well as in the areas of wound management, infection control, least restraint, and zero lift
• Effective human relation skills, enables other through coaching, mentoring, learning through shared experiences.
• Ability to work alone and with others while prioritizing tasks to handle most urgent first.
• Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively within a variety of stressful situations and challenges and with various individuals or groups.
• Strong organizing, planning, prioritizing, time management skills.
• Proven experience in taking personal responsibility for seeking information from various sources.

Responsibilities:

• Must work at all times within the regulation laid out in the Health Professions Act.
• Accountable for assessing, planning, monitoring, and coordinating the delivery of resident care.
• Oversees all ADL provisions of care, Interdisciplinary Team Conference, care plan development and addresses family concerns.
• Plans, directs, and supervises the work of the LPN and Health Care Aide Staff.
• Works collaboratively with the health care team and acts as a champion of customer satisfaction and customer service.
• Assists in orientating, mentoring and competency development of staff.
• Staff replacement in absence of the nursing clerk.
• Take charge of the facility in the absence of management.
