Job summary

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto, ON invites applications for a permanent full‑time Registered Nurse in the PICU. The role focuses on delivering family‑centred, high‑quality paediatric nursing in a world‑renowned critical care unit.

You will develop and implement individualized nursing plans, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and pursue ongoing education and professional development within a supportive, equity‑driven environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program.
• Active General Class RN License through the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• 1+ years of clinical nursing experience as an RN.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated critical thinking, problem‑solving and teamwork abilities.
• Understanding of and commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.

What is the PICU?

The PICU is a 21‑bed medical/surgical unit. Our patient's ages range from newborn to 18 years of age. The PICU is a state‑of‑the‑art unit equipped with the latest in patient care technology including computerized bedside charting. This world‑renowned unit provides excellence in paediatric critical care in an innovative fast paced environment. Team members are encouraged to grow and contribute in the areas of clinical practice, education and research. Nurses will have the opportunity to develop clinical expertise in paediatric critical care nursing.

Here's What You'll Need

Essential Requirements

• Graduate of an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program
• Active General Class RN License through the College of Nurses of Ontario
• Possess 1+ years of clinical nursing experience in an RN capacity
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to use your critical thinking, problem‑solving and teamwork abilities
• Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusivity

Preferred Qualifications

• Recent & related acute care nursing experience is strongly preferred
• Previous work experience in Acute/Critical Care nursing strongly preferred (adult or paediatric)
• Previous work experience in paediatrics or experience working with children is strongly preferred
