Job summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room at Brightshores Health System in Owen Sound provides safe, ethical perioperative nursing care and serves as scrub and/or circulating nurse within the OR, collaborating with the surgical team to support patient outcomes.

The role requires current CNO registration and RN designation, with at least 1 year OR experience or perioperative certification, and a commitment to Brightshores’ patient-safety culture and policies.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Registered Nurse (RN) designation.
• Minimum one year recent Operating Room nursing experience within the past two years and/or perioperative certificate.
• Demonstrated knowledge of Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada standards and perioperative best practices.
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records.

REASON TO POST: DIRECT REPLACEMENT

WAGE RATE: $41.15 - $58.98

The Registered Nurse (RN) – Operating Room is responsible for providing safe, competent, and ethical perioperative nursing care in accordance with the standards established by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) and the Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada (ORNAC), as well as relevant organizational policies. The RN functions as a scrub nurse and/or circulating nurse within the Operating Room (OR) environment and collaborates with the interdisciplinary surgical team to ensure optimal patient outcomes across all phases of perioperative care.

Skills/Abilities/Qualifications

Required

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Registered Nurse (RN) designation
• Minimum one (1) year recent Operating Room nursing experience within the past two (2) years and/or successful completion of a recognized Perioperative Nursing Certificate Program for Registered Nurses
• Demonstrated knowledge of Operating Room Nurses Association of Canada standards and perioperative best practices
• Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records

Preferred

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Certification in Perioperative Nursing through the Canadian Nurses Association.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
• Experience in multiple surgical specialties (e.g., general surgery, orthopedics, endoscopy, obstetrics, etc.)
• Experience with Oracle Cerner surgical documentation systems and electronic health records.
