Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health System (SJHS) seeks a part-time OR nurse for the Surgery Centre Ophthalmology Operating Rooms, King Campus, Hamilton.

The candidate must hold current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and an Operating Room Nursing Certificate, with laser and BCLS/HCP certifications. At least 1 year of OR experience or equivalent training is required, with strong teamwork and ability to work in emergencies.

Job Description

Qualifications

• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario required
• Operating Room Nursing Certificate required
• Minimum of 1-year current O.R. experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Laser certification required
• Canadian Perioperative Nursing Certification an asset
• Current BCLS/HCP certification required
• Demonstrated knowledge sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors and their families
• Gentle Persuasive Approach training preferred
• Familiarity with HSM OR and/or basic computer competencies
• Demonstrates ability to function effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
• Demonstrates ability to function in emergency and highly stressful situations
• Good attendance and work record is essential
• A resume regarding further education special courses and experience should accompany the application
