Job summary

North Bay Regional Health Centre is seeking an experienced registered nurse for the Alternate Health Facility - Cartier Site. Candidates must hold CNO registration, BLS within 12 months, and demonstrate palliative care and IV/CVC expertise, with a history of recent medical/surgical experience and strong

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing.
• Current BLS for Health Care Providers certificate within the last 12 months.
• Dementia care, pharmacotherapy, falls/mobility, delirium training completed.
• De-escalation techniques certification required.
• Recent Medical/Surgical clinical experience in an active care setting (2–3 yrs).
• Palliative care experience and IV Therapy/Central Line Management certificates.
• Experience with CVC, TPN, CADD pumps, enteral feeding, tracheostomy, wound care.

Job description

Department: Alternate Health Facility - Cartier Site

Initial competition is now closed. We are continuing to accept applications until a candidate is selected.

The Alternate Health Facility (AHF) is a 40-bed off-site unit designed for patients who no longer require acute care but need transitional support before moving to rehabilitation, long-term care, retirement living, or other post-acute settings. An interprofessional team—including physicians, nurses, personal support workers, and staff from dietary, environmental services, and Infection Prevention and Control—provides comprehensive care. Fully equipped for acute medicine patients, the AHF delivers the same high standard of care as the NBRHC main site.

QUALIFICATIONS

Certification/Experience/Knowledge

• Current Certificate of Registration ~ College of Nurses of Ontario in good standing required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers (HCP) certificate is required (within the last twelve months)
• Dementia care, pharmacotherapy, falls/mobility, osteoporosis, delirium training required
• De-escalation techniques required
• Recent Medical/Surgical clinical experience in an active care setting (within the last 2-3 years) required
• Recent palliative care experience required
• Current certificate in IV Therapy and Central Line Management required
• Required experience working with:
  • Central Venous Lines Management (CVC)
  • Total Parenteral Nutrition (TPN) certification
  • Computerized Ambulatory DrugDelivery (CADD) pumps
  • Enteral feeding care and management
  • Tracheostomy and suctioning care
  • Wound care

• Ability to support and contribute to a culture of safety and prevention of adverse health events required
• Must demonstrate good attendance and work record
• Bilingualism (Advanced level English/French) is required.
