• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate, Level C - AED.
• BScN preferred.
• Previous geriatric experience preferred.
• Ability to lead, organize, provide and delegate care activities for unit, clients and families.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
• Basic computer skills: Meditech, Word, Excel, RM&R.

The Nursing Resource Team (NRT) provides flexible staffing support across clinical programs to ensure safe, high-quality patient care. NRT nurses are deployed to units based on operational needs and patient acuity, requiring strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to integrate quickly into established teams. This role plays a critical part in maintaining continuity of care and supporting hospital-wide capacity management.

Job Summary

The Nursing Resource Team provides excellent specialized geriatric care across all programs in the Hospital including rehabilitation, complex continuing care, palliative care, in-patient psychiatry, behavioural neurology, and transitional care. NRT offers a dynamic opportunity to practice and hone both clinical and organizational skills across a number of different care settings, while supporting the broader needs and demands of the organization. This opportunity is ideal for motivated, adaptable critical thinkers, who are passionate about geriatric care. Our NRT staff are well known and respected for their role within the Hospital community.

The Complex Continuing Care Unit (5East) provides care for older patients with complex medical conditions in a non-acute hospital setting. The Complex Continuing Care Program helps patients and their families identify strategies that support quality-of-life goals as well as short term and long term care needs.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Provides sound clinical knowledge and assessment skills, acts as clinical expert and resource and provides comprehensive, quality client/family centred health care services from admission, through transfers and discharge
• Plans for, delivers and evaluates nursing interventions, including medications administration as well as treatments which fall within the RN’s scope of practice
• Provides client-centred care within interdisciplinary care team to meet the personal care, activation, recreation and spiritual needs of clients in supporting their return to the base line functioning and discharge to the community

Qualifications include but are not limited to:

• Current registration, in good standing, from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) is required
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certificate, Level C - Automated External Device (AED) is required
• BScN preferred
• Previous geriatric experience preferred
• Demonstrated ability to take professional accountability for leading, organizing, providing and delegating care activities for the unit, clients and families
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and problem solving skills
• Basic computer skills - Meditech, Microsoft Word and Excel, RM&R Resource Matching and Referral preferred
