Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking a Registered Nurse for the CG-TCU at our Bayview Campus. The RN provides person-centred care in an acute care setting, supporting patients awaiting inpatient beds and collaborating with the interprofessional team and RPN in a consultative capacity.

You will engage in care planning, assessments, and education to support discharge planning, while upholding safety, ethics, and quality improvement.

Qualifications

• Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Current Heart and Stroke Foundation CPR.
• 1 year recent acute care nursing experience preferred.
• Competency with various medical devices and IV therapy.

Job description

• Registered Nurse in the CG-TCU at our Bayview Campus

  Responsible for providing person centred care in the acute care setting of CG-TCU for patients who have been admitted to any of the Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre services, requiring ward level care and awaiting an inpatient bed. The RN works as part of the interprofessional health care team to provide excellent culture-sensitive nursing care to patients with varying health needs in a rapidly changing, high turn-over practice environment supporting the ED. The RN works collaboratively with RPN in a consultative relationship to provide elements of care to the patients in the CG-TCU.

• Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Care processes which include identifying the needs of patients and families
  • Completing assessments, planning and continuously reassessing care
  • Implementing evidence based interventions, and evaluating patient outcomes and the patient experience
  • Demonstrate commitment to quality improvement, ongoing professional development and reflective practice

• Qualifications/Skills

  • Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario with no restrictions to practice as a Registered Nurse
  • Current Heart and Stroke Foundation CPR
  • 1 year recent acute care nursing experience preferred
  • Successful completion of pre-interview knowledge assessment tool
  • Competency with the care for internal medicine, surgical, trauma, oncology, orthopedics, spine and neurosurgical patients
  • Phlebotomy and IV certified preferred
  • Competency with medical devices including but not limited to: CVAD, chest tubes, surgical drains, and infusion pumps
  • Demonstrated commitment to Person-Centred Care
