Job summary

Government of Nunavut is seeking a Registered Nurse, Inpatient Care, full-time and permanent. The RN will assess patients, respond to health issues, and work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver compassionate inpatient care. Eligibility to work in Canada is required and training will be provided as needed.

Recruitment bonuses include $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months, and $10,000 at 30 months; Frontline Allowance of $9,000 annually and a $375 monthly retention bonus ($4,500/year).

For Registered Nurse, Inpatient Care position that is full time and permanent, recruitment bonuses include: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service. Additional premiums include a $9,000 Annual Frontline Allowance and a $375 Monthly Retention Bonus of $4,500 per year. For Job shares, salary, bonuses/allowances are pro-rated in accordance with hours worked.

The Registered Nurse (RN), Inpatient Care, is a member of a multi-disciplinary team. This position is responsible for assessing patient health status and responding to actual and potential health problems including emergent and critical situations on an ongoing basis during the provision of inpatient nursing care.

Responsibilities Main responsibilities for the Registered Nurse, Inpatient Care include:

• Using evidenced based practice, RNs, provide competent, patient centered, culturally sensitive care while maintaining professional accountability.
• RNs coordinate care by collaborating with other healthcare team members to ensure patients regain optimal functioning of well-being and quality of life within an appropriate time frame.

Qualifications The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a Bachelor or Diploma in Nursing. Candidates must be eligible to register with CNNN. Obstetrical experience would be considered an asset. The incumbent must attend/successfully complete the Neonatal Resuscitation Program, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within twelve months of hire. These mandatory certifications are to be renewed as per course guidelines for renewal. This is a Highly Sensitive Position and a satisfactory Criminal Record Check, along with a clear Vulnerable Sector Check is required.

The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages would be considered an asset. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment are also considered assets.
