Job summary

Muskoka Algonquin Healthcare is seeking an Infection Prevention & Control professional to lead policy development, surveillance, and education across Huntsville and Bracebridge campuses. The role focuses on evaluating infection risks and implementing evidence-based prevention measures to protect patients, staff, and families.

We expect registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario and 2+ years of infection control experience. CIC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Minimum 2 years of infection control experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• CIC certification preferred.
• Strong knowledge of infection control principles, guidelines, and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation, and evaluation of infection prevention policies and procedures.
• Monitor infection surveillance data, trends, and healthcare-associated infections to identify risks and improvement opportunities.
• Conduct infection risk assessments and recommend evidence-based prevention and control measures.
• Develop and deliver education and training programs on infection prevention and control best practices.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement effective infection prevention strategies across the organization.
• Serve as a clinical resource for staff, patients, and families on infection prevention and control practices.
• Prepare reports on infection prevention activities, outcomes, and regulatory compliance.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and reduce infection risks.

Additional Information

Location: Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) is the home-site however we are a multi-site, organization, working on site at both the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital (SMMH) located in Bracebridge and Huntsville District Memorial Hospital (HDMH) located in Huntsville. Applicants must reside within 125km of one of our hospital campuses or be willing to relocate prior to starting. *Exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Hours of Work: Regular hours of work are Monday to Friday from 8 am - 4 pm. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements per the collective agreement.
