Job summary

Interior Health is seeking a motivated Registered Nurse Clinical Mentor for the Emergency Department. This term-specific, part-time role focuses on mentoring, coaching, and supporting nurses to deliver high-quality patient care across the Kootenay Boundary service area.

Travel within the region is required; the assignment runs through March 31, 2027. The role works with nurse educators to provide rapid hands-on mentorship, clinical instruction, and staff development.

Qualifications

• Current RN registration with BCCNM.
• Three years of acute care in critical care nursing with mentoring experience or leadership training.
• Valid BC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid elbow-to-elbow clinical mentorship and practice support for nursing staff.
• Advise and support nursing staff on clinical practice in collaboration with nurse educators.
• Lead staff development and mentor new graduates within the Emergency Department.

What you will work on:

The Clinical Mentor role functions as an experienced clinical mentor, resource, and champion in the delivery of excellent client care to nurses and other team members. Working in conjunction with the nurse educators, provides rapid elbow-to-elbow clinical mentorship and practice support for nursing staff. Utilizes experience and clinical skills to function as a clinical resource to formally advise other nursing staff in nursing practice, provides clinical instruction and supports staff training and development. Takes on leadership role in performing functions such as mentoring staff to support skills development and supporting clinical practice initiatives.

Qualfications

Education, Training and Experience:

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Three (3) years of acute care in critical care nursing practice including experience mentoring new graduate nurses as well as leadership training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid B.C. Driver’s License
