Job summary

Interior Health’s Kelowna General Hospital is seeking a motivated relief part-time Registered Nurse Clinical Mentor to support and lead the perioperative team. The role focuses on mentorship, clinical instruction, and staff development, with a leadership component to advance nursing practice.

You will collaborate with nurse educators, provide hands-on mentorship, and help drive initiatives that elevate client care and team capability in a dynamic perioperative setting.

Qualifications

• Active RN license with BCCNM (BC College of Nurses and Midwives).
• 3 years acute perioperative nursing experience.
• Experience mentoring new graduate nurses.
• Leadership training or equivalent experience.
• Valid BC driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide rapid elbow-to-elbow clinical mentorship and practice support to nursing staff.
• Serve as a clinical resource and instructor in nursing practice.
• Lead staff mentoring to support skills development and clinical practice initiatives.
• Collaborate with nurse educators to support training and development.

What you will work on

The Clinical Mentor role functions as an experienced clinical mentor, resource, and champion in the delivery of excellent client care to nurses and other team members. Working in conjunction with the nurse educators, provides rapid elbow-to-elbow clinical mentorship and practice support for nursing staff. Utilizes experience and clinical skills to function as a clinical resource to formally advise other nursing staff in nursing practice, provides clinical instruction and supports staff training and development. Takes on leadership role in performing functions such as mentoring staff to support skills development and supporting clinical practice initiatives.

Qualfications

Education, Training and Experience:

• Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Three (3) years of acute care in Perioperative nursing practice including experience mentoring new graduate nurses as well as leadership training or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Valid B.C. Driver’s License
