Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide primary care for trauma patients. The RN performs assessment, intervention, education and patient advocacy, aligning with the center's Person Centred Care philosophy and its Mission and Values.

You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment, applying surgical pre- and post-operative care, strong communication, and teaching to patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current trauma experience required.
• Certification: Ontario Certificate of Competence.
• B.C.L.S. required.
• BScN preferred; Post-Basic Neuro course recommended.

Responsibilities

Summary of Duties

Responsible for primary care of trauma patients. The main functions of the RN include, but are not limited to: assessment, intervention, education and patient advocacy. The RN supports the Philosophy of Person Centred Care concept and principles and the Mission and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The RN works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications/Skills

• Current Certificate of Competence [Ontario]
• Current B.C.L.S.
• B.Sc.N preferred
• Post-Basic Neuro course strongly recommended
• Current trauma experience required
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment; able to manage multiple demands and changing priorities
• Surgical experience with skills in pre-op and post-op care and patient/family teaching
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients, families and co-workers
