Job summary

Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in Toronto is seeking a Registered Nurse for trauma patient care. You will perform assessment, intervene, educate and advocate within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care.

The role requires trauma experience, BCLS, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment while coordinating pre-op and post-op care and teaching patients and families.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Competence [Ontario] is required.
• BCLS certification must be current.
• B.Sc.N degree preferred; further neurosurgical coursework desirable.
• Post-Basic Neuro course strongly recommended.
• Trauma experience is required.
• Experience in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
• Surgical/post-op care experience and patient/family teaching.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with patients and families.
• Strong assessment skills and ability to work as part of a team.
• Commitment to Person-Centred Care approaches.

Summary of Duties

Responsible for primary care of trauma patients. The main functions of the RN include, but are not limited to: assessment, intervention, education and patient advocacy. The RN supports the Philosophy of Person Centred Care concept and principles and the Mission and Values of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. The RN works closely with other members of the multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications/Skills

• Current Certificate of Competence [Ontario]
• Current B.C.L.S.
• B.Sc.N preferred

• Current trauma experience required
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment; able to manage multiple demands and changing priorities
