Job summary

Covenant Health Canada is seeking a Registered Nurse for Misericordia Community Hospital's 5 East Surgical Care Unit. The RN participates in assessments, care planning, treatments, and discharge planning, providing compassionate, high-quality care and supporting patient safety and wellbeing.

This Regular Part Time role (0.79 FTE) requires active CRNA registration and BLS; shifts include days, nights, and weekends. Posting ends 13-OCT-2026; location: Edmonton.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Registered Nurse program; active CRNA registration required.
• Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Level C required.
• If you have not practiced as a Registered Nurse within the last five years, complete the listed courses.

Description:

The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity. The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:

Graduate of a Registered Nurse program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required. Additional Required Qualifications:

At least one year of recent (within the last two years) acute, inpatient surgery or orthopedic surgery required. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong team work and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated commitment to providing compassionate, patient- and family-centered care. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

At least one year of recent (within the last two years) acute adult inpatient experience. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter training and experience. Negative pressure wound therapy education as asset. Connect Care Training an asset Charge Training an asset.
