Job summary

St. Joseph’s Health System (SJHS) Hamilton is seeking a part-time Registered Nurse for the GIM Clinical Teaching Unit. The role may be scheduled at Charlton Campus (Hamilton Downtown) and involves caring for seniors while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team.

Shifts include days and nights, with a mix of site assignments. Applicants must hold Ontario RN registration, BCLS/HCP certification, and demonstrate strong communication and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• Demonstrated ability to practice collaboratively and communicate clearly with members of the interdisciplinary team to provide care for a full range of patients/clients required.
• Demonstrated ability to set priorities and organize work in response to patient/client and unit needs.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning professional development and continuous quality improvement required.
• Demonstrated basic skill level with computers MS Word incident reporting systems internet searches data entry and patient information systems required.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skill related to crisis intervention and conflict resolution required.
• Demonstrated strong leadership problem solving critical thinking team building and interpersonal skills required.
• Excellent work performance and attendance record is essential.

General Internal Medicine-specific Qualifications

• Recent related nursing experience in a clinical teaching environment working with a multidisciplinary team preferred.
• Current CPI training an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to effectively manage a fast-paced admission and rapid patient turnover environment required.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and deliver nursing care activities utilizing a total patient care approach required.
• Demonstrated ability to remain flexible and adapt to crisis situations and change required.
