Job summary

St. Joseph Hamilton is seeking a Registered Nurse in the Post Anaesthetic Room to provide patient-centred, evidence-informed care and collaborate with the inter-professional team.

You’ll support high-acuity patients, handle diverse shifts, and uphold standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario. A valid RN license and ICU/PACU experience are required; ACLS/BCLS and PACU courses are valued.

Qualifications

• Current registration with Colleges of Nurses of Ontario required.
• Minimum 2 years related current experience in critical care nursing (i.e. PACU ICU ED) required.
• Minimum 2 years post-operative surgical nursing preferred.
• Current BCLS/HCP certification required.
• ACLS preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors and their families.
• PACU course preferred.
• Critical Care Course an asset.
• Cardiac arrhythmia monitoring and interpretation required.
• Documented ability to work under stress and function effectively in critical situations.

Responsibilities

• The RN provides patient/client-centred and evidence informed care to promote health and assess the need for the provision of care and the treatment of health conditions by supportive preventative therapeutic palliative and rehabilitation means in order to attain or maintain optimal patient/client function.
• The RN collaborates with the inter-professional team and assumes a leadership role in delivering a full range of care and treatment to patient/clients including those with complex needs, high acuity and less predictable outcomes.

• Minimum 2 years post-operative surgical nursing preferred

• Demonstrated knowledge sensitivity and expertise in the care of seniors and their families
• Gentle Persuasive Approach training preferred
• PACU course preferred
• Critical Care Course an asset
• Cardiac arrhythmia monitoring and interpretation required
• Documented ability to work under stress and function effectively in critical situations
• Willingness and ability to work the shifts as required in order to meet the needs of the unit for pre-booked and relief tours
• Demonstrated ability to function efficiently within a multi-disciplinary team
• Must be able to complete orientation as required
• A good attendance and work record demonstrating reliability and dependability is essential
• A resume regarding further education special courses and experience should accompany the application
